The Edinburgh Free Fringe is a festival synonymous with diversity and talent. This year’s Midday Magic show is no exception. Oddly it is not at Midday but 3pm! The show runs until the 17th of August. It features three remarkable acts. These acts are Tommy Baxter, Sean Harrington, and Adam Black. Each brings their unique flair to the stage.
Sean Harrington, who is not related to me, stands out as my personal favourite. His sleight of hand is nothing short of mesmerizing. Each trick seamlessly flows into the next. His dexterity and precision are truly a sight to behold – or not behold!. He carries the show with a confident ease that is the hallmark of a seasoned performer.
Adam Black brings a different kind of magic to the table with his Rubik’s cube antics. His performance is undoubtedly entertaining. It showcases his impressive problem-solving skills. One can’t help but crave a bit more variety. The potential for a wider range of puzzles to be included in his act is vast. It would be exciting to see him expand his repertoire in future shows.
Tommy Baxter, the card magician, has a solid act with a good choice of tricks up his sleeve. But, his stage presence could use a bit of polishing. His banter, while well-intentioned, falls a bit flat at times, and his nervous energy, though endearing, can be distracting. With a bit more experience and confidence, Baxter could easily develop.
Midday Magic is a delightful way to spend your afternoon at the Edinburgh Free Fringe. With a little bit of a polish this show could go from great to exceptional. If you’re in town, make sure to catch it before it disappears!
CC Blooms (Venue 171), 23-24 Greenside Place, Edinburgh, EH1 3AA. Till the 17th at 3pm daily.
