We love Elton John. A great musician and someone who has brought wealth into our country and employed many. On top of that he has campaigned for equality for people of differing sexualities. This film doesn’t shy away from the problems of substance abuse. It’s followed at 11.20 by Elton John: The Red Piano his show from his Las Vegas residency.
Rudeboy: The Story of Trojan Records Sky Arts, 9pm
An interesting look at the origins and influence of the record label. See a good review here.

Sunday October 3 2021
Ridley Road, BBC1 9pm is a four-parter dealing with the far right in 1960s London. If it avoids the pantomime villain approach it could be interesting.
We Want the Light: Jews and German Music, BBC4, 1030pm explores the complex relationship between Jews and German Music.

Monday October 4 2021
The Iran-Iraq War: A Tragedy that changed History, PBS America, 9.55pm. An in-depth foru parter looking at this eight year conflict and its consequences.

Thursday October 7 2021
Saville: Portrait of A Predator ITV 9pm looks at the vile sex offender Jimmy Savile who died 10 years ago this month. It shows how he planned his career and lifestyle to prevent detection and assist in his abuse.

Friday October 8 2021
Citizens of Boomtown: The Story of the Boomtown Rats gets a re-showing. See the Counter Culture review here.
